This tripod is very handy. The bag that it comes with is rather cheap, but it will do the job. The remote is simple and easy to understand.
One without the tripod and one with and the footage is a world of difference. While it might be more spendy then most other tripods it does stand out above the rest. I filmed 2 weddings.
If you are serious about your camera get a serious tripod. I love the remote. At first a was weary of using it but with the camera mounted on the tripod it really would be hard to control without.
It is very lite and easy to unfold. Tripod seems to be of good construction.
This is incredible for the price or any price for that matter. It pans nice and doesnt hesitate on buttons either.
I like the black legs, the controls. If you owned one of each, you'd probably kill someone accidentally.
Why on earth would Sony do this. The others are set up so that when you pull toward you, the image zooms in.
I have bought a number of other Sony remote control tripods over the years from the consumer through the bigger pro versions.Yesterday I used my new VCT-80AV on a wedding shoot and discovered that the zoom in and out is set up the opposite way from all of our other Sony remote control tripods. It was a nightmare.It would be like if a BMW decided to switch the brake and the gas pedals from one BMW model to the next.
This one is the other way around. I was constantly zooming in when I want to zoom out.
Come on Sony, pay attention.Otherwise, it's a good tripod. It could use a padded carrying case rather than the basic one it comes with.
This fluid head tripod turned out to be just great. There were not reviews on it yet when I bought it, because it was a new model, but it seemed to address all the problems I read about in other reviews especially the "real" fluid oil head which was not available on such a modestly priced tripod in my investigations.

Ever since I've had it, I've been looking for a matching tripod, and boy I'll tell you, " THIS IS THE ONE " Its perfect size,weight,strength,asthetics,etc. make it the perfect match-up for any Sony Handycam if you ask me.
I currently own a Sony HDR-SR12, which I'm absolutely in love with. I would strongly recommend this tripod for anyone who owns a Sony Handycam.
